Editing Green Screen

Following our draft Sam and I decided to add some more dynamic shots in to the production. In order to do this we decided to use the green screen. By using the green screen we were able to overlay a clip on to another clip as displayed below.

In order to create this overlay effect we had to use another timeline on the editing scale. By putting two different clips above eachother and enabling each timeline two displayed simultaneously both clips could then be played at the same time. The was we achieved this can be seen below.

Refilming

Sam and I refilmed both the car scene and when the girlfriend finds out that the boyfriend has cheated scene. We decided that this would be a good idea to refilm as the quality of acting could have been better.
We also filmed a new scene which shows that the house on the video belongs to the girlfriend, we filmed the girlfriend getting out the car and going into her house - this will be shown in black and white therefore, the audience will know it is in the past.
Overall, I feel that our filming was successful and will transfer the footage into our music video once we have captured in lesson.

Refilming dates - film scheduling

Sam and I both met today to discuss the dates which we plan on filming . After discussing with other actors the first rescheduled date will be the 10th Nov.

Draft Edit meeting

Sam and I today discussed the improvements that we needed to make; following the completion of our draft edit.
We noticed that there was a lack of continuity during the video with the lead singer wearing different outfits at moments of the video, this is obviously something that we need to change.

The final shot that has been filmed needs to become more specific. It is to vague and the audience are unaware that the house belongs to the girl in the video. We have both decided to do a quick clip of the girl in the house in order for the audience to establish what is happening at the end of the film.

Sam and I noticed that the crowd seen doesn't seem realistic at all times. Again in order to rectify this, we will take out the crowd, and refilm with just close ups of the band, this will mean less organisation of characters as we do not have enough time.

Another point of interest is the acting between the boyfriend and girlfriend. We have both decided that it does not look genuine enough and in order to look professional we have decided it is vital to refilm this part.

Draft music video

Costume

Lead Singer- Sam Gibbons
Chequered shirt

Sam and I have decided that the lead singer of the band when driving and arriving at his ex girlfriends house will wear a chequered shirt. We have chosen this as it is a popular item among the target audience and the indie rock genre. Furthermore it reflects the situation as he is aiming to look relatively smart in trying to win his girlfriend back. We both believe it is important that the attire worn by the lead singer should reflect the genre of music being played.


White Baseball Top

This will be used in the flashback scene where the lead singer walks past his ex girlfriend. We have chosen this as it is more of a casual scene and will look more realistic, compared with him looking smarter. The actual selection of a white baseball top again enables him to reflect and look like he is in touch with the audience. This is important for us as indie rock is not meant to be about stardom and it looks like the lead singer has been able to keep in touch with the audience.


Skinny Jeans

Sam and I decided on this item as skinny jeans are now stereotypically related with the indie genre. Again we feel that it is important to relate the lead singers attire with the genre. By doing this we are able to make him an icon to the audience as they think they can aspire to be him. The grey skinny jeans can be worn throughout the whole video as we believe it is realistic for this to happen.


Friend 1- Sam Holloway
Patterened t-shirt- One of the actors in the back of the car will be wearing a heavily patterened t-shirt from topman. Again this is a popular piece of attire within the indie rock audience. It also contrasts with the lead singer reflecting his friends happy laid back attituded while the lead singer is concerned about what is going to happen and isn't as joyful. By setting up this contrast we are able to emphasise how much the lead singer cares about the girl in the video. (image to be added)

The lower half of this persons body shall not be in the shot, so there is no need to specify what they will be wearing.

Friend 2- Toby Wort
Imaged T-shirt- For this member of the cast we will again be aiming for a quite light hearted t-shirt. Again the attire will be popular with the audience watching so they are able to immediately make the link with the genre of music being played and will be able to become interested. In addition to this, as the t-shirt is more light-hearted it again sets up a contrast with the mood which the lead singer is going to be in.

Again with this actor the lower half of their body shall not be in the shot so there is no need to specify what they shall be wearing.

Boyfriend- Jack Cockerill
Straight Jeans- These jeans are seen to be more sophisticated then skinny jeans and it is able to set up more of a contrast with the type of boy the girlfriend is with. This is able to set up a contrast with the lead singer and makes the lead singer appear as the 'good guy' in the music video. By doing this the audience are going to react better to him as they will not like the guy that the girlfriend has ended up with. (Image to be added)


Polo shirt
Again this item is trying to emphasise the contrast between the two boys which the girlfriend has gone for. A polo shirt will look more expensive and sophisticated compared to the white baseball top which the lead singer will be wearing. When walking past eachother in the street the contrast will be clear for the audience to see and we both believe that the indie rock audience will side with the lead singer. (image to be added)


Girlfriend- Hollie Liddington (me)



Skirt
I have decided on a blue, white patterned high waisted skirt with buttons all through the center. This is popular with the females of our target audience and is seen as fashionable. It also enables us to portray to the audience that the girl is better suited to the lead singer of the band, making him become more iconic to the audience. This will be worn when seeing her ex boyfriend in the street to emphasise her dressing up for Tthe new boyfriend. Image to come.

I Love N.Y Top

For the concert, in order to make the video seem more realistic, Sam and I thought it would bew important that there was an outfit change. We decided on a I Love N.Y t-shirt, something that is common with females who were are trying to target our audience. This sort of clothing is seen as being more indie rock so it is also able to portray to the audience that she misses her old boyfriend and still misses him.

Skinny Black Jeans
We have decided on skinny black jeans for the girlfriend when she is at the concert. Again this is to try and convey to the audience that she is still wanting her old relationship back as she is not suited to her new boyfriend. The skinny black jeans are also there as a fashion item so it completes the girlfriends outfits.
